The VGH Thrift Store is located in the East Village, one of Vancouver’s hottest up-and-coming neighbourhoods. Our bright, newly renovated space is a thrift shopper’s dream, and the free parking lot in the back is available for shoppers, donation drop-offs and volunteers.

How can I pay for my purchase?
We accept cash and debit. Cheques and credit cards are currently not accepted.
Can I purchase items online?
Since great items come and go – and come back again – from our generous donors, we can only sell merchandise in our stores
How does The VGH Thrift Store determine the value or price of items?
We take a variety of factors into account when pricing items for sale. We try to balance the needs of the community with our goal of raising funds for health care services. Our prices are usually lower than other thrift stores because of our hard-working volunteers.
Who is the VGH Thrift Store?
The VGH Thrift Store is a non-profit organization run by our dedicated volunteers and staff. We began as an emergency clothing fund for patients discharged from Vancouver General Hospital (VGH). Today we’re a thriving part of the community, selling quality clothing, housewares, collectibles, and much more at thrifty prices to our loyal customers. Sales proceeds support the purchase of equipment, clothing and comfort items for VGH and other Vancouver Coastal Health patients and clients in Vancouver.
The first store front was launched in 2004 on West Broadway in the Mount Pleasant community. We have recently moved to a new location on Hastings Street in the East Village community.
Why should I buy from the VGH Thrift Store?
All of the store’s net proceeds – yes, 100% of our net proceeds! – benefit Vancouver General Hospital, UBC Hospital and other Vancouver Coastal Health patients, clients and residents in Vancouver. We also support a diverse group of volunteers who work at the store for many different reasons, including skills development, community building, social development and school requirements.
Do you pick up donations?
We currently do not have the capacity to pick up individual donations.
Please come visit our store located at 2535 East Hastings Street, Vancouver, BC V5K 1Z2 (behind the store access through the alley – there is free parking available). Please note we only accept donations during business hours (Monday to Saturday 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM and closed on Sunday), otherwise items are invariably stolen or vandalized, or damaged by weather. We never accept furniture without prior email approval.
